THE SUMMER’S not over yet, but Evesham Arts Centre is already looking ahead, by announcing its autumn and winter programme.

And it will be an inspiring mix of music, comedy, dance and the spoken word, to brighten up the darkest time of year.

A spokesman said: “Our new programme is full of music for all tastes and ages. We start the season with the Upbeat Beatles on September 22 and Toyah Wilcox “Up close and personal” on September 29 - both back back popular demand. There’s more from the Quo Experience on October 27, and alsi the Supersonic 70’s Christmas Show on December 15, and The Searchers’ Farewell Tour on February 10.

Our Thursday night Folk in the Foyer series continues with well-known and new acts from the national folk circuit -including Steve Tilston, Daria Kulesh and Jonny Dyer and Clive Gregson. Classical curiosities can be quenched at Evesham Music Club’s 70th year of concerts, featuring acclaimed baritone Roderick Williams, internationally regarded pianist Benjamin Grosvenor and period instrumentalists Trio Goya. The highly regarded NewGrass Cutters – the musicians who tour with Joe Brown, including local name Phil Capaldi – bring their Blue-Grass take on rock and pop classics to town in February.”

Stand up comedy is a huge hit with local audiences and this has been catered for.

The spokesman added: “We kick off this season with Rich Hall’s Hoedown, a hilarious, foot-stomping good time (even if you don’t own a hoe). Also in October is Jim Davidson, guaranteed to be as outrageous and truthful as ever.”

The Phoenix Theatre Group will shimmy their way to the start of the winter season with their version of the stage show Grease,”to make you long for summer nights”.

And EODS will follow with the famous, classic 1970s rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar, in November.

Prince Henry’s High School will present Me and My Girl.
