THE English String Orchestra returns to Number 8 in Pershore on Friday, April 23. Following its sell-out concert last year, this month’s performance features a programme of classical pieces written by composers who have been inspired by the folk music of their native countries. Familiar British folk-tunes contrast with the dynamism of works by Bartok, Bazzini and Popper, with An English Folk Song Suite for Viola and Strings written by Stephen Roberts; Londonderry Air arranged by Percy Grainger; Slavonic Dance by Dvorak; and Rumanian Dances by Bartok. Tickets cost £17 and £18 available from 01386 555488 or online on number8.org.
