HAILED by critics as “a masterpiece of 21st century dance”, Akram Khan’s Giselle will be screened at The Regal in Evesham this spring.

Tamara Rojo will dance the role of Giselle, one of a community of migrant workers cast out of their jobs in a condemned garment factory.

A spokesman said: “This beautiful and intelligent remaking of the beloved classic is showing on the big screen in Evesham’s art deco cinema, The Regal, on Wednesday April 25 and Tuesday May 1, and tickets are available now.

“Filmed live at the Liverpool Empire in October 2017, Akram Khan’s Giselle is directed for the screen by Ross McGibbon. The classic story of love, betrayal and redemption has been reimagined in this stunning new version, from English National Ballet

Laurence Wiper, spokesman for The Regal, Evesham, said: “Our opera and ballet screenings from The Royal Opera House have been very popular and we are pleased that we are now able to bring an even greater range of performances to The Regal from the English National Ballet, and also a broadcast of Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella, which includes a live question and answer session with Matthew Bourne himself, on Tuesday May 15.”
