THE award-winning food hall, Food at Webbs, is to stock the the UK’s first 100 per cent compostable crisp packet.

The food hall at Webbs in Wychavon is stocking Two Farmers, the ethically-minded brand that is the brainchild of Herefordshire farmers.

Second generation potato farmers Mark Green and Sean Mason decided to develop their own range of hand-cooked crisps that celebrates local ingredients whilst causing minimal impact to the environment, with a 100 per cent compostable packet. Walkers Crisps has recently come under pressure with calls for action on packaging and the company announced it will introduce a recycling scheme.

Mr Mason said: "As farmers living and working in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside we have seen firsthand the impact plastic waste can have on the environment. We are also crisp lovers and our greatest challenge has been to make great tasting crisps and find a way to bring them to market without compromising on our principles."

Ed Webb owner of Webbs said: “When we heard about these fantastic crisps we wanted to get them into store and give them our full support. We are always seeking ways to improve the environmental footprint."
