Proposed Solar Farm
Public Exhibition - Proposed Solar Farm
Low Carbon is proposing to prepare and submit a planning application to West Oxfordshire District Council for a solar farm with battery storage and associated infrastructure at Twelve Acre Farm, Chilbridge Road near Eynsham, Witney, OX29 4BH.
The project is known as the 'Aurora Solar Farm'.
Low Carbon is a UK company committed to making a positive and significant impact on the causes of climate change. Low Carbon has funded the development of more than 322 megawatts of UK solar, generating enough clean energy to power more than 100,000 UK homes and saving in excess of 143,600 tonnes of CO2 each year.
It is estimated that the solar panels would generate up to 31.9 megawatts peak, enough to power approximately 9,900 homes. The battery storage system (up to 18 megawatts in total) would charge at times of low demand and export power back onto the electricity grid at times of high demand or when solar irradiation is low. The proposed site is located approximately 1.5 kilometres to the west of the village of Eynsham and 550 metres south of the A40. It covers an area of approximately 57 hectares (140 acres) of agricultural land.
Low Carbon is holding a public exhibition (details below) as part of its pre-application consultation, which will provide an opportunity to meet members of the project team, ask questions, discuss the project and provide comments.
