MORE than 200 children from schools in and around Pershore flocked to a mini-rugby festival at Wyre Piddle.
The event was organised by Pershore Rugby Club in partnership with Worcester Warriors’ community team, who provide grassroots support to clubs and schools in the area.
With the added bonus of fine weather, the day was a huge success helped in no small part by the coaching and support provided.
Warriors’ community coach Sam Verralls said: “Pershore are one of over 25 partner clubs with the Warriors.
“What it’s all about for us is to go into those clubs and educate them about rugby and growing the game at grassroots level, working with boys and girls from the ages of four to 16.
“The standard of play and sportsmanship was amazing and, even though most hadn’t played competitively before, it was clear to all there were several players who will be stars of the future.”
