NORTH Cotswold Tri and Run's Tom Williams made his marathon debut on the hottest day of the year with temperatures reaching 27 degrees.
He did the Milton Keynes Marathon in three hours 52 minutes four seconds while many runners around him were forced to walk due to the extreme heat.
Steve Edwards was relieved to finish in 3.28.32 for a career 744th sub 3.30 time.
He now requires six more for a new landmark world record.
Meanwhile, Stow-on-the-Wold's Seanin Gilmore represented Midlands squad Do3 and Ireland at the Vejle ETU Powerman Middle Distance Duathlon European Championships in Denmark.
She secured a time of 3.40 over the gruelling 10-kilometre run, 60km bike section and 10km run for fourth overall in a highly-competitive field.
