PRESIDENT Chris Wright's team beat club captain Bernard Donoghue's side in the annual Broadway match.

They triumphed 10½-9½ in the men's better-ball matchplay contest.

Then followed the men’s winter league awards after seven rounds of competition with Mick Sandalls and Paul Walker winning for the second year running on 265 points.

But they only edged out Justin Loram and Ian Weatherhead on countback.

Third were Rob Lord and Nigel Bird with 261.

Broadway's ladies battled strong winds in the first medal round of the season.

The Silver Division's Liz Smith was first overall with 76 nett to edge out Jenny Buchan on countback.

Debbie Donoghue was third with 79.

Andi Stedman took the Bronze Division top spot with 80 ahead of Esther Pettitt on countback with Brenda Corfield third on 83.

Linda Carruthers won with 75 nett and the lowest gross of 79 as the top 16 scores qualified for Silver Salver Trophy knockout rounds.

Vicky Watkins was second on countback with Pat Green third on 81.

Twenty-two mixed Broadway pairs competed for the Rummer Cup in foursomes strokeplay in better conditions.

Jenny and Rod Brindley won with 73.5 nett on countback ahead of Les and Annabelle Carter with vice-captain Andy Basford and Christine Saunders third on 76.
