CHAMPIONS Evesham and Badsey signed off the season in style with an 8-3 home thrashing of second-placed Stroud seconds.

The Vale side won West Clubs Women's Hockey League Severn Division Two by 13 points.

Debbie Edmondson scored an early goal for Evesham and Badsey from Lynne Ellarby's pass.

Defender Caitlyn Clarke and keeper Pip Webster denied Stroud before a fine passing move involving Laura Moore and Lydia Webster was finished off by Kaye Amphlett.

More pressure and strong tackling allowed Lydia Webster to take control and score the third goal.

Captain Moore bagged the fourth goal from a short corner before Stroud pulled one back and were only stopped from getting a second by fine work from Pip Webster.

The visitors had a player red carded for shouting at the umpire and throwing her stick.

They paid the price when caught on the break from their own short corner in the second period and Edmondson made it five.

Lydia Webster scored the sixth goal not long after before Stroud reduced the deficit to 6-2.

Amphlett's shot from just inside the D found its way in for Evesham and Badsey's seventh goal.

Although Stroud grabbed their third through a penalty flick, Lydia Webster completed her hat-trick and the scoring.
