EVESHAM'S Alex Doherty continued his successful run by winning at the Hereford Standard Distance Duathlon.
He led from start to finish to triumph by six minutes, setting a course record bike split of 43 minutes 50 seconds at an average speed of 25mph on a hilly course.
Doherty, 35, tackled a 1.8-kilometre run, 29km bike section and a 2.4km run.
It sets him up well for the world championship qualifiers at Clumber Park, near Worksop, on May 5.
The Royal Oak have stepped in with sponsorship for the world championships in Denmark if Doherty makes the grade.
Coach Richard Goode, of Goode2swim, said: "I have worked with Alex for just two years and his progress has been phenomenal.
"I can't wait to see what the next two years brings."
