EVESHAM and Badsey won 7-0 at Cheltenham fourths in West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Severn Division Two.

In a wet start to the game, their fast, young opponents were denied first-half goals by Lucy Trevorrow, Zoe Miller and keeper Pip Webster.

The visitors took the lead with Sarah Jones finishing off a passing move and she added a second following a break after Kay Amphlett blocked from a short corner.

More good work from player of the match Webster kept the clean sheet intact and Lydia Webster extended the lead to 3-0 at half-time.

The Evesham and Badsey defence continued to deny Cheltenham in the second period in wet and windy conditions.

Jones took her goal tally to four with Caitlyn Clarke also on target and Webster completed the scoring with her second strike.

The men’s first XI beat Newent A 4-1 in GoCrea8 League The Marches Division One after a defeat the previous week.

Evesham and Badsey got a penalty corner after smart individual play from Michael MacLeod and with a poor flick from Marcus Humpston he latched onto the rebound and put it into the roof of the net.

They went close to a second but did not score again until after the break when Adam Haycock deflected a slipped ball by Matt Osbourne.

Wayne Betteridge bundled the ball in at the back post and then MacLeod drove into the circle, pulling the keeper out of his goal and allowing Luke Atkins to find an empty net.

Newent got a late consolation from a penalty corner.
