STEVE Edwards competed in the two Enigma Christmas Cracker marathons.

Both races for the North Cotswold Tri and Run ace were held in Milton Keynes.

The first involved eight laps of Willen Lake which he ran in three hours 26 minutes 14 seconds to finish second overall and first veteran over 55.

The second race just three days later involved a testing 17 laps of Furzton Lake with a bitterly cold headwind.

Edwards ran the challenge in 3.28.08 to finish fourth overall but again won his age category.

The two races bought his marathon tally to 51 in 2017 with an average finish time of just over 3.20.

All being well, Edwards hopes to make it 52 before the year is out.

His overall lifetime marathon total now stands at 808 as he strives for the ultimate 1,000 world record.
