PERSHORE Tennis Centre head coach Steve Bauer scooped a pair of gongs at the Hereford & Worcester County Awards Banquet.

Bauer was named coach of the year and gained the accolade of putting together the best disability programme, picking up the silverware from Hereford and Worcester Lawn Tennis Association president Richard Herriman.

It means Bauer will be put forward for more awards against other county winners early next year.

Bauer has played a big part in growing Pershore's membership by some 30 per cent since January, running free sessions at the Pershore Carnival and Plum Festival and staging a Great British tennis weekend at the club.

The centre leads the way in disability tennis by running regular indoor sessions with groups from Worcester and was also honoured as Highly Commended Club of the Year. Pershore's Bradley Smith was awarded Junior Volunteer of the Year.

Anyone interested in joining should visit the club or call 01386 556677.
