DAVE Harvey ensured reigning champions JLM Hawks got off to a flyer in Evesham & District Table Tennis Division One.

Harvey beat all three of his opponents with Jack Davis snaffling two victories and Mark Hale beating Rob Sinderberry in a 6-4 success over Littleton Positives.

Hawks then repeated that result against JLM Owls but their victims fought back to trump Kington Bulldogs 7-3 with Luke Moffat sweeping to a trio of triumphs while Keith Ferguson and Christopher Lane won two apiece. Malcolm McFarlane ensured some pride for Bulldogs.

Craig Witheford and Steve Cull each mustered six out of six for Littleton Clubs across their 8-2 win over Littleton Aces and a 10-0 whitewash of JLM Sunrisers, whose ill fortune continued with an 8-2 defeat to Bengeworth Purple.

Kate Hughes was player of the match for Bengeworth with three wins wins and only one set dropped all night. Dougie Allen also won all three.

Stef Mytton picked up the only singles win of the evening for Sunrisers, beating Richard McGhee 3-1. Jonathan Lyons and Graham Poole also won doubles for Sunrisers, seeing off Dougie Allan and Richard McGhee in straight sets.

A trio of last season's top performers in Division Two quickly settled to life in the top tier as James Glazzard, Stephen Glazzard and Kevin Taylor inspired Dragonflies to a 9-1 success over Wyre Elite.
