FORMER two-time Evesham club captain Geoff Insall and his playing partner Paul Sharpe lifted the Forrest Hays Cups by shooting 61 nett.

Played as a pairs medal of 90 per cent handicap allowance, the main board competition was first contested in the late 1970s.

Despite the tricky autumnal conditions scoring was remarkably good with 15 pairs bettering the par of 72.

In second place one shot behind the winners were the pair of Andy Cottrill and Nick Webb with 62.

Third was occupied by Stuart Green and Jerry Cain on 63 with John Machin and Graham Hughes fourth on countback on 65.

Sixteen ladies entered the Evesham senior ladies' championship over a sunny nine holes.

The winner with 20 points was Margaret Roberts and the runner-up with 16 was Gillian Spencer.

The trophy was presented by Audrey Piddington, a past captain of Evesham who had travelled from Bristol with her husband Ken for the lunch and presentation.

Twelve mixed pairs competed for the Whitehouse Cups at Evesham.

Despite the challenging format of medal foursomes some good scores were achieved.

None were better than the pairing of the men's and ladies' captains Brian Osborne and Eunice Allen who won with 70.5 nett.

Runners-up were Ken Hunt and Jenny Marston with 74.5.

The prestigious Frank Vincent Trophies for Evesham's main mixed knockout competition played for during the summer were presented.

Osborne handed them to winners Annie and Martin Bird.
