ANDY Simms soared to Broadway Golf Club's Division One summit with a nett 68.

Simms leapfrogged Mark Saunders and John Richmond despite the duo each bagging impressive scores of nett 70.

In Division Two, Russell Payne clinched the lead with a first-rate nett 69 with Alan Taggart losing out on countback. Roger Buggin was a close third with 70 on a day which saw 78 men compete.

Broadway's ladies were out in force to enjoy some good course conditions with Silver Division’s Linda Carruthers taking full advantage, bringing in a remarkable 42 points to take a convincing lead in the Stableford competition.

In second place was Frances Friend (32) ahead of ladies' vice captain Maggie McDivitt in third (30). Continuing her terrific run of form, Fran Andrews leaped to the top of Bronze Division with 39 points, sharing a commendable score with Barb Buggin who narrowly lost out ton count back. Ange Sollis did well to achieve third place (32).

The juniors completed their club championships, the most prestigious competition in their calendar.

The 36-hole challenge had to be halted after 18 the previous week when thunder and lightning drove the youngsters off the course but with the weather much improved, Scott Davis picked up from where he had left off.

Davis completed his second round as conclusively as his first, bringing in a tremendous 168 gross to seal the Junior Club Champion title.

Curtis Coane was never far behind, scoring a respectable 171 gross to take a deserved runners-up berth while securing the best nett award with 145.
