JAMES Attwood and Andy Jones stormed to a thrilling victory in the prestigious Raymond Gray Trophy at Evesham Golf Club.
The better-ball pairs stableford was open to all members and visitors for men’s and mixed teams.
The Gray family served for 83 years at the Fladbury club with Raymond the longest-serving golf professional in the United Kingdom in a career that spanned over 62 years from 1929 until his death in 1991.
Dry conditions produced a fast, bouncy course and many teams beat the 40-point barrier.
Prize winners included the best man and lady combination of Barrie Saggers and Marlene Billings on 44 points and nearest the pin of Clive Gray from Cirencester.
Trophy winners Attwood and Jones scored 50 off 90 per cent handicap allowance.
Second were Rob Wylie and Will James on 46 followed by Laurie Keen and Gray on 44 as they pipped Stuart Green and Geoff Insall on countback.
