EVESHAM’s junior and senior rowers celebrated deserved wins at the Stourport two-day regatta on the River Severn and the Warwick Regatta on the Avon.

On the first day at Stourport in the 1,100-metre downstream sprint coaches Andy Woodward and Dave Parkin saw junior Becca Parkin show courage, endurance and resilience.

She beat all her competition in her single then with Ella Shalom won convincingly in their double event.

Duncan Repton in his single and double Suki Glocking and Charlie Akerman were runners-up.

The senior squad four of Kate Racki, Rosie Macdonald, Abi Terry and Mal Jablonska, coxed by junior Emma Parkin, won their pots.

Emma Parkin then went on to cox seniors Deb Staite, Nicky Perry, Amanda Baker and Mal Jablonska to victory in their event.

Racki and Macdonald completed the hat-trick of senior wins by coasting to victory in their double.

On the second day Repton battled hard through the heats in the 650m sprint to win his junior single event and double Becca Parkin and Shalom went on to win again.

Andrew Smithson and Freddie Jones were close runners-up in their double and Shalom took second in her single.

At Warwick over the 500m upstream sprint some of the senior squad’s newest adult rowers, coached by Janet Sumner and Pauline Pollard, had their first taste of competitive rowing and the juniors again secured wins for the club.

Shalom beat Georgie Banton and Archie McEwan defeated Ollie Parr in all-Evesham finals.

Quad Olivia Evans, Flo Johnson, Megan Woodward and Alex McIntyre together with Rachel Egan and Woodward in their doubles also took home winners prizes.

Charlie Akerman and Martha Robbins and Sacha Wilson and Libby Akerman secured second places in their events.
