DUMBLETON Cricket Club are celebrating after winning the Gloucestershire County Cup at under 15 and under 13 levels.
Dumbleton’s under 15s defeated Bedminster by 55 runs in the final and the under 13s clinched the country crown after a 33-run victory against Frocester.
Dumbleton team managers Peter Boorman (under 13s) and Nick Holland (under 15s) have both been coaching the teams since the boys were six or seven years old.
Boorman said: “We’ve both worked really hard to coach and build the teams over the last few years.”
More than 70 clubs in Gloucestershire have been involved in the competition. Both Dumbleton teams will represent the county in the regional and national stages of the ECB T20 competition.
At the under 15s finals day, Dumbleton eased past Winterbourne in the semi-final after scoring 247 in their 20 overs. Dan Holland, Robbie Hardwick and James Humphries were impressive with the bat.
In the final, Dumbleton reached 133 before limiting Bedminster to 78.
Fine spin bowling from Ryan Kilmister (3 -10) helped Dumbleton under 13s past Thornbury in their semi-final. Dumbleton scored 93 in their 20 overs but Kilmister put Dumbleton in charge and Will Gilderson, Sam Baines and Isaac Tagg fired out the opposition for 48.
Dumbleton posted 103 in the final and then bowled out Frocester for just 70.
Dumbleton Under 13, with coach Peter Boorman, have been crowned Gloucestershire County Cup champions after beating rivals Frocester in the final.
