PETER Ratledge and Martin Williams carded a nett 69 to clinch Evesham Golf Club’s Wychavon Cup.

Jeff Fletcher and Mick Hocking put up a good fight but had to settle for the runners-up spot after carding a nett 74.

Steve Deakin and Peter Belcher secured third position on a countback after returning a nett 75.

A total of 26 senior players flocked to compete in the event which took place on a fine, spring day.

The competition format was a betterball medal with drawn partners and it proved to be a highly enjoyable day.

Meanwhile, the seniors also entertained their Puckrup counterparts from Gloucestershire at the Craycombe course for their third home match of the season.

Evesham were pleased to welcome Derek Jackson to their squad.

The contest was a typically hard-fought occasion but Puckrup ran out winners by four games to two.

Although the weather was dry, it was cool but the course was in excellent condition and played at its best.

After the entertaining match, both teams enjoyed a tasty lunch provided by the catering staff.
