PHIL Wheeler and Enid Walker triumphed in Evesham Golf Club’s Whitehouse Cups competition.

Ten mixed pairs enjoyed the beautiful sunshine with some players wearing summer shorts to grace the manicured course.

The greens were fast, which caught out one or two players, but many thrived in the lush conditions.

Club captain Brian Osborne presented the cups to Wheeler and Walker, who carded a nett score of 76.

Richard and Lesley Curnock were just behind, in second spot, with a nett 76.5.

Twenty six ladies graced the course in pairs for the Huntingdon Cups.

Gil Smith and Carol Yates claimed the top spot with a nett score of 78.5.

Dee Machin and Lesley Kewley, with a nett 80.5, were the runners-up.

Some of the players lost balls up trees, while others drove shots into the river and some took 12 shots on a par 3 hole.

However, some birdies were still scored in the fun-packed competition.

A friendly competition was also played which was won by Margaret Roberts and Penny Osborne.
