A GROUP of Pershore Swimming Club members finished second at a PGL League gala in Droitwich.
It was a promising showing from the Pershore swimmers, some of whom were involved in their first club gala.
Northgate topped the table with 166 points from second-placed Pershore (142), while Wyre Forest were third (127) and Evesham fourth (121).
Pershore head coach Tom Naughton said: “This was an exciting gala with a great atmosphere and terrific support. There were some excellent swims from a very inexperienced team with a number of swimmers swimming for the first time competitively.”
Swimmers who took first places were: Alfie Brown 13/14 boys 50m butterfly, Daniel Chalk 12/u boys backstroke, Molly Beach 11/u girls breaststroke, 10 u/ girls Medley Relay, Isabella Barnes 9/u girls free style, Caitlin Yates 13/14 girls backstroke, 12/u boys medley relay , Tally Brown 10/u girls fly, 13/14 boys medley relay, Catherine Rendall- Bakes 11/u girls fly, Harry Barnett 10/u 25m freestyle, Libby Boulton 10/u girls 25m freestyle, James Heeks 12/u freestyle, Jack Porter 10/u back and 9 years and under mixed medley relay.
In the PGL league, speeding tickets are awarded for swims under the entry time and are a badge of honour among the swimmers.
Tickets were awarded to Olivia Howard 13/14 girls fly, Oliver Smith 12/u boys breaststroke, Pippa Fairchild girls 10/u back, Caitlin Yates girls 13/14 free, Josh Heeks 9/u boys 25m fly, Philippa Taylor 10/u breaststroke.
