PERSHORE Swimming Club members clinched 38 medals and achieved regional qualifying times at the Gloucester Open Meet.

After a slow start, the Worcestershire club won 15 gold medals, 12 silvers and 11 bronzes in a successful weekend.

Alex Barry (13) bagged 10 medals, including five golds. She also roared to an 81-point haul which was the highest total by a swimmer at the meet.

Barry took gold in the 200m freestyle, 400m individual medley, 200m individual medley, 400m freestyle and 200m butterfly. She clinched silver in the 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke and a bronze in the 50m butterfly.

New qualifiers included Jasmine Hoskins, 12, who cruised to three regional times in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 200m backstroke.

Luke Perry (14) snatched his third regional time with a 50m freestyle in 27.07s, while Caitlin Yates (13) dug deep for qualification times in 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke.

Club captain Jaz Taite (16) nailed her regional time in the 50m backstroke, Izzie Cumming (14) picked up her first regional time with a personal best in the 200m backstroke.

Hannah Woodcock (13) won three gold medals, two silver medals and three bronzes, delivering highs in the 200m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.

Patrick Heeks (13), Chris Vizard (15) and Luke Perry (14) all notched four medals.

Heeks won gold in the 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly and took silver in the 50m freestyle. Vizard battled his way to gold in the 200m butterfly, took silver in the 50m backstroke and bronze in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Perry was rewarded with silver in the 50m freestyle, bronze in the 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly and 100m breaststroke. Nine-year-old Josh Heeks scooped three gold medals with some strong swimming in the 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly Jaz Franks (12) bagged silver in the 200m breaststroke, while Jaz Hoskins (12) took silver in the 200m backstroke. Cumming (14) won bronze in the 800m freestyle, while Jaz Taite (16) claimed silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze in the 50m backstroke.
