EVESHAM Golf Club seniors held their first qualifier of the new season with a stableford for the Eric Tyler Trophy.

An unpleasant, rainy morning presented difficult golfing conditions as 33 points earned Bill Dobie the win.

Second on countback with 31 was Ian Facer ahead of last year’s winner Neil Croft.

This year’s winter league has been completed and all 10 rounds were played on the red course with some fine winter weather on the way.

The format was a stableford with the best five scores to count.

The lead was hotly contested from the outset with fine scores recorded.

Martin Williams won with a best five score of 197 ahead of Geoff Wellens on 195 and Mick Hocking on 192.
