WORCESTER Triathlon Club’s first race of the 2017 season the Peopleton Duathlon took place on a cool, blustery morning.

Despite the poor weather over recent weeks they had more than 100 entrants for the popular event to blow away the winter cobwebs.

With two distances to choose from the majority opted for the longer event consisting of runs of four and two miles sandwiching an 18-mile bike section.

The sprint distance involved two runs of two miles and cycling for nine miles.

Dan Geisler (one hour 17 minutes 31 seconds) came home in first place followed by George Hughes (1.17.50) and Neil Wicks (1.19.07).

In the women’s race Debbie Bradley (1.31.28) was followed in by Vikki Sivertsen (1.33.19) and Fern Hordern (1.39.56).

The sprint races were won by Kirk Finlinson (56.17) and Hayley Burden (1.08.10) respectively.

Competitors of all abilities are welcomed at any of Worcester’s events and they continued to finish until just over the two-hour mark.

They will be hosting the Worcester Lakeside Triathlon in Holt Heath on Sunday, May 14.
