BRIAN Osborne marked his election as captain for a second year with his drive-in at Evesham Golf Club.

Following his successful year the membership endorsed him as captain for an unprecedented second term at the Fladbury club.

Members gathered at Craycombe Links and Osborne did not disappoint, launching his first drive straight down the fairway.

His charity for this year will be the Acquired Brain Injury Trust ABI Centre at Evesham College.

The drive-in was followed by teams of four in a stableford.

The winners with 106 points were Dave Morris, Tony Stanley, Mike Grove and Ian Tarry.

Second were Ian Hughes, Stu Green, Jerry Cain and Stu Deacon on 101 and Dave Higgins, Mark New, Lee Lambourne and Chris Jewkes were third with 97.

The ladies played American foursomes over 12 holes. Jenny Masser and Penny Osborne won on 45.4 ahead of Elaine Boscott and Margaret Roberts on 50.2.

Meanwhile, Pat Hird won The Vale ladies’ nine-hole winter challenge fifth round with 15 points.

Over 40 extended their games to 12 holes for mystery pairs. Jan Taylor and Anthea Duckett won with 105 nett followed by Clare Bunn and Sue Jones on 110 and Pauline Hawkins and Di Morris on 111.

The stableford winners for the Silver, Bronze and Copper Divisions were Pat Darch on 21 points, Mary Collier on 21 and Carole Lavis on 20 respectively.
