Sporting Lisbon have appointed Sinisa Mihajlovic as their new head coach.

The 49-year-old Serb has agreed to take charge of the Portuguese club on a three-year contract.

He has replaced Jorge Jesus, who has taken a job in Saudi Arabia.

Mihajlovic has spent most of his career in Italy, first as Roberto Mancini’s assistant coach at Inter Milan where he won the Serie A title twice between 2006 and 2008.

Later he was head coach at Bologna (2008/09), Catania (2009/10), Fiorentina (2010/11), Sampdoria (2013/14 and 2014/15), AC Milan (2015/16) and Torino (2016/17 and 2017/18) and had a short spell in charge of his native Serbia.
