THE Lenches Cubs Under Nines claimed their first tournament success at the Bidford Festival.

They finished second in a tough group with two victories and two draws before winning a penalty shoot-out after drawing 1-1 in their semi with Eckington Juniors.

Against Studley in the final, Lenches scored early in the second-half and held their lead to lift the cup.

They play in the Ambassador Evesham League and want new recruits to play matches on Saturday mornings and train on Thursday evenings when the new season starts in September.

Anyone interested in joining can call Dave Buttle on 07974-659510 or Kevin Price-Ward on 07752 333310.

Meanwhile, Badsey Rangers Under 10s won the shield at the Bidford tournament to collect their first piece of silverware. They missed out on making the cup semi-final by goal difference but beat the hosts with a Ben Purfield goal in the shield competition.
