MAT Liddiard will step up two divisions next season after making the switch from Evesham United to Gloucester City.

The midfielder who joined Evesham from Cirencester last summer established himself as a key figure for the Southern League West outfit as he netted 22 goals in all competitions.

But Liddiard has decided to return to Gloucester who play in National South and ground share at Evesham’s Jubilee Stadium.

The 25-year-old came through the youth ranks at City before making 50 first-team appearances over four seasons.

Speaking on Twitter, Liddiard said: “I would like to thank everyone @EveshamUnitedFC for such a fantastic year.

“I wish you all the best for next season and I hope you get promoted.”

Gloucester have also re-signed Worcester-born winger Adam Page and defender Jack Deaman who have previously had spells at Hereford.

Tigers manager Marc Richards said: “We’ve been a little quiet in comparison to other clubs so far but it was imperative that we take our time and sign the right sort of players.

“I obviously know all three lads from their previous spells with us and they are returning to the club already understanding the mentality and what it takes to play for Gloucester.

“I’m delighted to be able to welcome Adam, Jack and Mat back and as I’ve said before, we are a club that values not just ability but the right attitude and these lads have both in abundance.

“I’m talking to a few others and I am building a team that I believe will be competitive in the coming season.”
