BOSS Paul Collicutt reckons Evesham United can be masters of their play-off destiny ahead of a reunion with a former Robin.

United head to fellow contenders Swindon Supermarine on Saturday (3pm), whose caretaker manager Lee Spalding featured for Evesham as a player when Collicutt was assistant to Nick Jordan.

Supermarine sit one place outside the Southern League West play-offs in seventh but trail third-placed Evesham by only three points with a game in hand.

Six points cover from third to tenth with each of the seven clubs beneath Evesham all having games in hand but Collicutt would not swap places with anyone below.

“There will be a lot of twists and turns between now and the end of April," he said. "It is still in our hands, other teams have games in hand but they have to get the points.

“It would take something pretty drastic to stop Salisbury getting second behind Taunton. I would never give up, though, and if they lose a couple of games, you never know.”

On the match, he added: “Swindon do try to play football in the right way and our clashes with them usually turn out to be attractive games.

“We played out a 3-3 draw at our place earlier in the season. It was a game either team could have won and we know we will have to be at our best.”

Jordan Bryan and Paul Fahy could return after missing Saturday’s controversial 2-1 home defeat to Salisbury but sent-off duo Linden Dovey and Archie Haskayne begin their suspensions.

New recruits Garyn Preen and Cameron Ebbutt remain in contention with Collicutt hopeful the attacking pair can add some punch.

“They can both play wide or up top and the message is simple, we want them to bring crosses, goals and assists,” said Collicutt.

“We know a bit more about Garyn’s game but Cameron comes with a good pedigree.”

Meanwhile, the manager was pleased to see a bumper crowd for the Salisbury showdown.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came. It was not the result we wanted but the support was great,” he added.

Evesham has announced the home match with Bideford on Good Friday, March 30, will kick off at 2pm.
