LITTLETON failed to find their shooting boots on the day two club favourites netted in the same Championship fixture.

Ex-Ton Boy Joe Lolley notched in Nottingham Forest's 5-2 win at QPR, a match that also saw another former player Matt Smith score for the hosts, but there was no cause for the current crop to celebrate in a 1-0 defeat at Racing Club Warwick.

The contest was hardly a classic with a low sun, strong wind and bobbly Townsend Meadow surface making life difficult for the Midland Football league Division One adversaries from the outset.

Joseph Smith turned in what proved to be the winner with 20 minutes on the clock, converting at the far post following a corner.

From there, Littleton upped the ante and gradually worked their way into proceedings and then dominated the second half with the wind at their backs.

The golden chance to level arrived on the hour but Dale Edwards saw his penalty turned away and while the visitors continued to press, they were unable to overcome Warwick's savvy methods in winding down the clock and up their opponents.

Littleton are due to host Studley tonight before welcoming Hinckley AFC to Five Acres on Saturday when Pershore Town return to action with a trip to bottom-of-the-table Coventry Alvis (both 3pm).
