CARL Brown’s early strike fired Evesham United to back-to-back home wins and clean sheets for the first time this season.

Brown bludgeoned beyond keeper Ashley Clark having been picked out by Archie Haskayne in the eighth minute of Saturday’s 1-0 success over promotion rivals Bristol Manor Farm.

In the end, the Robins ran out deserved winners having created more than their fair share of openings before restricting their visitors to half chances despite the momentum shifting late on.

Evesham sought to build on the opener but Brown’s burst into the box proved fruitless midway through the first half before Adam Mann and Nick Hancock cleared the crossbar from promising positions.

Mat Liddiard had to be alert to flick away Jamie Turner’s on-target blast from 25 yards at the other end but Evesham stayed on the front foot after the interval.

Mann was denied one-on-one by Clark and although Manor Farm gradually began to gain territory from there, they were restricted to shots from distance.

Evesham: Sawyer, Dovey, Wellon, Hancock, A Williams, Liddiard, Bryan, Haskayne, Brown (Fahy, 72), Mann, Bennett. Unused subs: Dunbar, Francis, Lewis, Tustin.
