A SECOND double in five days from Dan Carter saw Littleton through 2-1 against Malvern Town in the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup.

An inch-perfect pass from Jordan Jones played in Carter to calmly finish in the 11th minute with the hitman scoring on the rebound from Dan Holloway’s free-kick 10 minutes before the break.

Lewis Platt and Kyonn Evans combined to tee up Matt Turner’s simple first-time finish on the stroke of half-time.

Carter should have completed his hat-trick but snatched at his one-on-one effort three minutes after the interval, while Evans went close to a leveller on the hour.

As it was, Carter’s 22nd and 23rd goals in 19 matches and eighth in his past four outings proved enough to seal Littleton’s progress ahead of a Midland League Division One trip to Nuneaton Griff on Saturday.

Third-placed Malvern host leaders Wolverhampton Sporting Community in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division (both 3pm).

  • PERSHORE Town’s interest in the Smedley Crooke Cup is over after a 4-2 defeat at Bilston Town Community.

New signing Dan Getliff and Aaron Xavier scored but their efforts were in vain at Queen Street.
