THERE were two shocks in the Evesham Mechanical Services Knockout Cup on Sunday as a pair of Division One teams were ousted by lower-league opposition.

Ambi Allsports produced the biggest upset by accounting for Tewkesbury Town 5-3 with goals from A Dyke (2), Gary Dyke, Corr and Richardson.

Elsewhere, holders Evesham WMC crashed out at the first hurdle losing 4-2 to Broadway United reserves. Steele, Tomkotowicz, Goodall and Burtenshaw notched for Broadway, while Grady and White netted for the Workies.

Stour Excelsior hit five without reply against Fortis with a hat-trick for Drinkwater proving the inspiration. Harris and Featherstone also scored for the Shipston side.

Inkberrow racked up double figures in their 13-1 bashing of Fairfield Titans, while Rogers, Ballard and Smith each scored in New Inn Pershore's 3-1 win over Bredon. The visitors responded through H Shearer.

Jason Horsburgh was the hat-trick hero as Broadway United edged out Bretforton Old Boys reserves 4-3.

Aspey also scored for Broadway, while the Old Boys replied through Booth, Dovey and Staley.

Two matches had to be settled by penalty shoot-outs, the first arriving after Sun Inn and Alcester Town had shared a 4-4 draw.

Watts hit a treble for Sun Inn and Singh scored all four of Alcester’s goals only for Sun to win through from 12 yards. TDMS Evesham were the other shoot-out heroes against Charlton Fladbury after a 1-1 draw.

Williams (2), Payne, Boother, Haughton and Taylor scored for Cropthorne in the 6-2 win over Stour Excelsior reserves and TDMS Harvington progressed with a 2-0 win at Strawberry Field United.

Stratford HGC won 4-1 at Ashton 88 with goals from Watkin, Dixon, Spilsbury and Vertich, Bretforton Old Boys overcame Offenham Rovers 4-1 and Alderton edged out Dragons on their own patch 1-0.
