PERSHORE Town recorded an excellent 3-2 win over second-placed Leicester Road in Midland League Division One.

Town started brightly with Steven Roche heading into the keeper's arms and Reece Jacobs also testing him with a right-footed shot.

But the visitors opened the scoring after nine minutes when Josh Unsworth reacted quickest to a through-ball into the penalty area to finish past Shaun Edwards.

Town deservedly equalised after 14 minutes when captain Shaun Griffiths threaded a ball through for Jacobs who crossed from inside the box for Jamie Clarke to head home.

With the scores level at half-time Town took the lead after 54 minutes when Clarke fed the ball to Ben Lane who took a touch into the box and fired his left-footed shot across the keeper into the far corner.

But Pershore conceded within a minute, allowing the visitors to draw level.

The winner came with 12 minutes remaining when Roche was upended in the penalty area and Clarke put away the penalty.

Town have now lost only once in eight matches, having won three, and climbed to 15th five points above the relegation zone having played one match more than the teams below.

Pershore travel to local rivals Littleton on Saturday (3pm).
