EVESHAM United maintained an outside chance of an Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West play-off place with a 1-0 win over North Leigh.

Karnell Chambers scored the only goal at the Jubilee Stadium in the 19th minute in front of 329 fans.

The Robins have one game left to play at Marlow on Saturday but Winchester City, who are three points ahead with a worse goal difference, need just one point from their final two matches to extinguish Evesham’s hopes.

Meanwhile, Hereford FC extended their Midland League Premier Division lead to 10 points with a 2-0 win at Quorn thanks to Mike Symons and Pablo Haysham.

Second-placed Alvechurch, whose game at Sporting Khalsa was postponed, have two fixtures in hand.

Aidan Thomas netted as Westfields went down 2-1 at home to Dunkirk.

Pershore Town drew 1-1 at Cadbury Athletic in Midland League Division One in a scrappy match on a heavy pitch.

In a first half with few chances, Town took the lead after 39 minutes when Cadbury’s keeper failed to cleanly punch away a corner with the ball dropping in the six-yard box for Myles Jones to lash home.

Cadbury equalised just before half-time when Andy Yarnold’s save from a close-range shot dropped for Ryan Spink to score.

The second half was better with Gareth Evans shooting just wide from inside the box, having controlled the ball with his back to goal and turned away from his marker.

Town thought they had taken the lead in the 84th minute when Danny Ludlow’s shot was saved by the keeper with substitute Jacob Snape neatly heading home the rebound only to be judged offside.

Pershore keeper Yarnold made a good double save late in the game from a free-kick on the edge of the box and the rebound with the final result a fair outcome.

Fourteenth-placed Town travel to Pelsall Villa on Tuesday (7.45pm).
