QUENTIN Townsend’s career as the new Pershore Town manager got off to a flying start at the 2020SolarPV stadium with a convincing 4-1 home victory against rejuvenated Bolehall Swifts.

Town’s starting 11 in Midland League Division One included three debutants and one of those, Danny Ludlow, scored a hat-trick.

The best goal of the match, however, was from Town’s left back Jake Donnelly, who scored with a 25-yard right-footed shot that went in off the bar.

An evenly-contested first half saw Town’s back four defend well and the team play some good football.

Pershore took the lead after 39 minutes when Ludlow’s shot from the edge of the box was parried by the ‘keeper back into his path and he finished into the corner.

Town dominated the second half and Ludlow scored his second after 56 minutes, slotting left-footed into the corner on the angle from 10 yards.

It was followed two minutes later by Donnelly’s strike but Bolehall scored soon after from Nick Hadley’s close-range header.

Pershore thereafter created numerous chances as substitute Matt Mitchell hit the bar with a header and Danny Carter spurned a couple of opportunities.

Steve Roche and Peter Jenvey also went close before Ludlow completed his hat-trick with a couple of minutes remaining with a right-footed shot from close range.

Town do not have a match on Saturday.

Littleton lost 4-3 at home to Lichfield City in a thriller.

Robbie Bunn, Steve Edghill and Will Gayton scored for the hosts.

But David Yonwin, Tom Evans and Matt Clarke netted for Lichfield with their fourth goal arriving in injury time through Michael Taylor.
