MIDLAND League Division One leaders Bromsgrove Sporting beat Pershore Town 5-0 on Bank Holiday Monday in front of another large crowd of 581.

Town’s Jamie Clarke had the ball in the net after eight minutes only to be ruled offside having been put through by Luke Church.

While Bromsgrove had the majority of the possession, Town looked dangerous on the counter-attack.

The hosts took the lead, however, after 23 minutes through Andy Nicol who turned his marker and scored past Shaun Edwards.

Bromsgrove scored two further goals before the break through Nicol, who subsequently went on to score a hat trick, and Luke Shorthouse.

Fifth-from-bottom Town’s misery was completed in the last minute when substitute Jason Cowley scored from close range.

Pershore hope for better when they host Cadbury Athletic on Saturday at the King George V Stadium (3pm).

Seventh-placed Littleton’s climb up the table was halted by a 2-0 home defeat to Cadbury.

Nathan Hodge scored four goals as Westfields crashed 5-1 at Shawbury United in the Premier Division.

Hodge put Shawbury ahead in the 10th minute with a firm header from a corner and then doubled the lead with a fine solo goal.

After the break, Fields came out more determined and scored within a minute of the restart when Chris Ham headed in a fine cross by Sam Plane.

But a mistake from keeper Keiron Blackburn allowed Hodge to score his hat-trick from an acute angle.

He claimed his fourth goal midway through the half and then Keanu Cooper scored a spectacular fifth.

Third-placed Fields missed an opportunity to close the gap on leaders Alvechurch and Lye Town in second.

Former Worcester City striker Connor Collins scored twice as Fairfield Villa beat Redditch Borough 3-1 in Division Two.

Jack Connolly was also on target with Jamie Hatfield replying.

Inkberrow drew 2-2 with Castle Vale Town in Division Three as Thomas Clewes bagged a brace.
