PERSHORE Town conceded an injury-time goal as they were beaten 2-1 by Hinckley in an entertaining match at the Winstanley King George V Stadium.

The visitors included former Worcester City striker Marco Adaggio and ex-Wolves and Cheltenham player midfielder JJ Melligan in their ranks, both of whom had penalties saved by Andrew Yarnold in a three-minute spell just before half-time.

New Pershore signing Danny Lennon, who has joined from Bromsgrove Sporting, proved a handful and was unlucky not to score with several good efforts.

But Town took the lead in the 61st minute when Lennon’s shot was blocked and Joe Walsh finished the rebound from 15 yards.

Pershore had an excellent chance to increase their lead on the break with Lennon feeding Steve Roche who was tackled just as he was about to pull the trigger on the edge of the box.

Hinckley drew level in the 76th minute when Walsh deflected a free-kick beyond Yarnold and, four minutes into injury time, the Leicestershire visitors scored the winner with a header from a corner.

Elsewhere, Bromsgrove Sporting’s bid to close the gap on leaders Highgate United was thwarted with a 3-3 draw at mid-table Lichfield City.

Jozsef Jakab, Ryan Mahon and William Tibbetts scored for the second-placed visitors, who are now seven points behind Highgate.

In the Premier Division, Stourport Swifts drew 1-1 at Walshes Meadow with leaders Long Eaton United, while Westfields were held 2-2 by Coventry Sphinx at allpay.park despite first-half goals from Jamie Cuss and Dean Lee.
