EVESHAM WMC moved within a point of the top of the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division One table.

In the Evesham Hospital Sunday Junior Cup first round, Stour Excelsior caused an upset with a convincing 6-1 win at Bretforton Old Boys.

The Minor Cup saw AC Olympia produce their best performance of the season to defeat Mickleton Rangers 4-0.

There were comfortable victories for Ecosamba, Jacksons Fairfield, Alderton, Bredon and Cidermill, while Charlton Old Boys won 4-3 at Pebworth.

Two league stalwarts were recognised at the Worcestershire Football Association’s annual long service awards evening.

Referee Martin Malin was congratulated for 30 years’ service, and Pebworth club secretary John Hyde for 20.
