FOURTEEN-year-old left-arm seamer James Andrews took four wickets for Pershore in one over including a hat-trick.

He took 4-6 from two overs in the thirds’ 202-run win over Harborne fifths in Worcestershire Cricket League Division Five.

Andrews, who has been at Pershore for six seasons, took his first hat-trick as he tore through Harborne’s lower-order batting.

His first wicket was the result of a smart stumping from another 14-year-old Todd Charlton.

He sealed his treble thanks to a slip catch from Chris Holtom and then took his fourth wicket off the final ball of the over.

His 12-year-old brother Alex Andrews, who represents his county age group, also played a part in the victory.

Apart from bowling in tandem with James he ran out the opening batsman.

Their proud father Paul completed the on-field trio.

Promoted Pershore’s first team made a losing start in Birmingham and District Premier League Division Two.

Liam Ridings (62), Taylor Pugh (52) and Adam Wiffen (41) helped the visitors to 218 all out.

But Wombourne romped to an eight-wicket win in their quest to return to Division One.

The seconds also lost by eight wickets to the same club in Division Two South after being bowled out for just 66.

Evesham lost by 72 runs at home to Lye in Worcestershire League Division Two, making 160 all out in reply to 232-9.

The seconds went down by nine wickets at Pedmore after being restricted to 108 all out.

The Cotswold Hills League starts on Saturday with Ashton-under-Hill visiting Overbury in Division One.

In Division Two Bretforton host The Lenches, Badsey go to Temple Grafton and Elmley Castle host Ashorne.
