Carterton 2, Hook Norton U-12 2
A FABULOUS game saw Carterton become only the second side to take points off last weekend's opponents all season.
The first half was tense and keenly contested with both sides coming close on more than one occasion but not quite finding the final touch.
In the second half Hook Norton started by far the quicker and poor defending let them in twice and Alex Gilkes and Connor McEachen punished Carterton for easing up.
The game seemed beyond the home side but they kept plugging away and, when they won a free-kick 20 yards out, skipper, Nicky Rose hit a wonderful strike that had just too much power for Danny James.
Hooky tried to increase the pressure but some fine defending and good goalkeeping from Saul Garrett kept the deficit to a single goal.
Then a second free-kick for Carterton, wide on the right, again proved too hot for James who did well to keep out the first rebound from Aaron Light but Jordan Anderton banged in the loose ball.
Hook Norton are worthy winners of the league title but Carterton can feel justly proud of their display.
Wychwood 2, Hook Norton U-11 7
HOOKY ended the season on a high with a 7-2 win when Will Hardy and Josh Hunt led the way with two goals apiece.
Andrew Morley, Jacob Evans and Alex Thornton completed the scoring, while Harry Thompson was excellent in the Hooky goal.
