City pile misery on poor Town
7:30pm Thursday 16th August 2012 in Sport
PERSHORE Town were sunk 2-1 by Lichfield City in a close Midland Combination Premier Division encounter.
After conceding an early goal, Town equalised late in the first period with a strike from Dane Aldington.
Just before the break, Richard Congrave thought he had given Pershore the advantage, only to see the linesman’s flag deny him.
In the second-half, the hosts restored their lead and held on for victory.
Pershore then lost 2-1 at home to Coventry Copsewood on Tuesday night in front of a crowd of just 39, leaving Gary Aldington's men fourth from bottom without a point.
They are back on the road on Saturday, heading to midtable Stafford Town (3pm).
Meanwhile, relegated Evesham United open their Evo- Stik Southern League Division One South and West campaign on Saturday at home to Sholing (3pm).
