Long wins battle with team-mate

BOURTON Roadrunners’ members tackled the tough challenge of the Hooky 6 in Hook Norton.

Darren Long was locked in battle with club-mate Ian Shoemark and avenged his defeat at the Evesham 10- kilometre contest with a strong finish for 30th position in 39 minutes 13 seconds.

Shoemark was close behind in 39.13 in the Oxfordshirebased six-mile road race, while Steph Lane was third senior lady in 41.45 Andy Mccoombes put on a fine display to finish in 42.05 and Ali Lane was second veteran over 45 in 43.35.

Brian Hulcup was third veteran over 60 in 43.46 and Steph Holton clocked 47.25.

Rob Humphries managed 47.29, David Pyne 47.42, the fit-again Nigel Frith 47.53 and first veteran lady over 55 Liz Hulcup 47.55.

Triathlete Chris Dry timed 48.55, Gill Carrick 48.47, Norm Lane 51.27, Shirl Creed 52.20 and Lynn Hudson 53.45.
