Pair see red amid first loss of season
3:00pm Thursday 16th August 2012 in Sport
LITTLETON suffered their first Athium Midland Combination Premier Division defeat and had two players sent off.
The newly-promoted side, who won their opening two games, fell 3-0 at Bolehall Swifts, who also had a man red carded.
In a game dominated by the referee, Littleton went down to functional but efficent opposition who were the better side and deserved their victory.
Bolehall started well and pushed the visitors back, making good progress down the flanks, but Littleton coped comfortably.
A Simon Fitter free-kick almost caught the home keeper unaware as it just cleared the bar and then Joe Lolley nodded wide after a good move involving Joe Walsh and Olly Manouchehri.
Bolehall took the lead on 25 minutes with Jordan Brown running in to meet a leftwing cross and give keeper Danny Edward no chance.
A crude tackle on Walsh five minutes before half-time led to two bookings for Bolehall and a surprising red card for Littleton’s Kevin Ingram.
Forward Jamie Clarke was sent off on 62 minutes along with an opponent after only just coming onto the pitch as substitute.
Littleton, who host Bloxwich United on Saturday (3pm), defended doggedly but conceded further goals on 84 minutes and in injury-time to complete a miserable day.
