Sea Cadets in visit to Olympics
7:20pm Thursday 2nd August 2012 in Sport
SEA cadets from Pershore will have the chance to see some of the Olympic sailing from one of the best vantage points when they visit HMS Bulwark this week.
The Royal Navy are providing security at the Olympic and Paralympic sailing site in Weymouth and have offered 650 cadets from all over the UK opportunity to come aboard.
Pershore’s unit are part of the lucky group visiting the site throughout the Games, during which cadets will experience life on a naval vessel and get the chance to watch the Olympic sailing.
Commanding Officer S/Lt (SCC) Stephen Thomas RNR said: “We are thrilled to have this opportunity. It’s amazing to not only be in Weymouth at this time but to see a working RN ship as well.”
Sea Cadets is the UK’s largest maritime youth charity working across in 400 towns with 14,000 cadets aged between 10 and 18.
