Town aim for better campaign

PERSHORE Town will be hoping for a better season when they kick-off their Midland Combination Premier Division campaign at home to Earlswood Town on Saturday (3pm).

The King George V Playing Fields side finished secondfrom- bottom last term and only avoided relegation because the league wanted to increase the number of topflight teams from 17 to 20.

Now, under the guidance of new manager Gary Aldington, Pershore will be keen to make their mark on the division.

They completed their preseason programme with a 4-0 home defeat to Evesham United on Tuesday, in which Leigh Downing, Marcus Palmer, Roland Agbor and Luke Corbett all scored in the second-half.

Following the curtain-raiser against Earlswood, Pershore are also in action at newly-promoted Blackwood on Wednesday (7.45pm).
