Woman's team

BOURTON Vale Cricket Club are hoping the launch of a women’s team will lead to success.

The Rissington Road side have already played one match against Fairford, which they narrowly lost, and are set to join their opponents in a league with Charlton Kings, Langford and Lechlade.

It was formed by under 11s coach Stuart Hughes, whose niece Jemma Moore topscored with 25 against Fairford, and 30 women attended the first training session.

Hughes acted to try and involve parents who accompany 80 children to the club’s Friday night training sessions.

It is the first time the club have had a women’s team in its 125-year history.
