Parish games

CROWLE were crowned winners of the petanque in the Wychavon Parish Games despite the rain forcing a premature end to play.

Fourteen teams started out in sunny conditions but the weather intervened after six end had been played, forcing the event to be abandoned.

Crowle, who won this event in 2009, were leading at the time, narrowly ahead of Droitwich Central.

Evesham Bengeworth, Wyre Piddle and Eckington were joint third with Bredon in sixth.

The next one-day event is the cross-country at Pershore High School on Monday, September 3.
