RUNNERS-UP: British second spot for Amy Stanton (left) and Sophie Inchley in the junior women’s series event.
BROADWAY’S Amy Stanton helped England win the junior women’s international series for the third successive year.
They thrashed hosts Wales 110-72 in Llanelli and hammered Ireland 108-61 to be crowned champions despite losing their opener 83-68 to Scotland.
But Stanton missed out in the Women’s Junior British Isles Championships at the same venue with fellow Worcestershire player Sophie Inchley.
They lost 23-9 in the final to Scottish pair Natalie McWilliams and Stacey Laidlaw after seeing off Rebecca Shore and Kelly Packwood from Wales in the semis 23-12.
Meanwhile, Broadway ladies continued their bid to become the top club in the country with an emphatic 4-0 win over 2010 champions King’s from Torquay.
They face Bath or Caer Glow in the penultimate match before the final knock-out stage at Leamington in September.
Results, singles: Lynne Bowen won 21-10; pairs: Lynn Ashby and Sue Davies won 18- 17; triples: Trish Emms, Viv Hall and Joan Parfitt won 20-13; fours: Maureen Ford, Mary Shephard, Yvonne Hopkins and Bridget Cresswell won 21-17.
Broadway men had a busy week in the Concorde League, beating Droitwich Spa 147-66 and Hewell 118-71.
But they failed to end Littleton’s unbeaten record, going down 101-95 as Mick Aubrey was the sole winning rink for Broadway, beating Colin Shergold 25-17.
